Here at Silver Mesa, we love Halloween!! We love to decorate for Halloween, we love to display our Halloween books, but mostly we love to read Halloween books to the students! One favorite here at the Mesa is "The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything" by Linda Williams. The students love acting out the story with the clothing and building a scarecrow at the end of the story, then He hangs out with us in our reading area for the rest of the month.
Another fun idea is to pair books such as "
Goodnight Moon" by Margaret Wise Brown with the parody "
Goodnight Goon" by Michael Rex. Or "
Madeline" by Ludwig Bemelmans with the parody "
Frankenstein" by Ludworst Bemonster (the pen name for Rick Walton). The students love the comparisons and the fact that they fit in with Halloween.
Hope you have a Spooktacular Halloween!
